Color Challenge at The Outlawz - Nov.6

We are less than a week from Remembrance Day - November 11 and I got to choose the inspiration photo for this week's color challenge at The Outlawz. I chose a photo of my Dad in his WWII uniform. The twist is to 'make it vintage'. My original photo was b&w, but the talented Guylou Beland colorized it very accurately, getting just the right color of green in the Canadian soldier's uniform.

Dad served as a dispatch rider in WWII, delivering vital messages from camp to camp on a Harley motorcycle. While other soldiers fought from within muddy trenches, their one consolation was that they had each other. Not so with my dad. He couldn't even defend himself with a weapon because he needed both hands to drive. One dawn he woke up in the ditch where he had slept to find that he was lying next to a dead horse. Most of his stories he kept to himself, finding it too painful to discuss his experiences in the "War to end all wars", as it was called.

I again used this photo of my dad to make my Remembrance Day card. I added a maple leaf sticker to represent our Canadian troops and the handwritten sentiment, "Lest we forget".

Thanks for stopping by and may you have a blessed Remembrance Day and peace wherever you live.

Blessing hugs,

PS - This month's color challenge sponsor is Delicious Doodles.
